Thank you, Mary Susan!
The Mensa Canada web and social media teams, and the national board, were sorry to hear that Mary Susan was stepping back from her role as VP Communications for Mensa Canada. Since 2012, she has been a force of nature within the organization, bringing a fierce determination and enchanting brilliance to her work while making so many friends along the way.
We’ve put together a special tribute to Mary Susan, our long time communications hero and friend, to say thank you. Thank you for sharing your passion and talent with us, for bringing your leadership and your heart to everything you do, and for taking us on a fantastic adventure. We hope you enjoy!
Mary Susan and Mensa Canada
It’s been said that herding Mensans is like herding cats, but there was no evidence of that with Mary Susan around. Under Mary Susan’s leadership, her team members had the opportunity to develop their skills and display their talents – developing personally and professionally. Some are being sought out by other national Mensan groups now, and we are all better people for our experience with her.
Mary Susan first joined Mensa Canada in 1991 and was a fixture on the Toronto scene. After retiring from an illustrious career in 2012, she took over the VP Communications role for Mensa Canada. Within 6 years, she revived the website and media communication for our organization, building high performing teams and award winning results. Her work included much needed infrastructure and policies, social media and website initiatives, member surveys and so much more.
Mary Susan has always been ferociously proud of her teams, and avoided personal recognition. We want to personally recognize her here for some of her achievements while serving Mensa Canada. See some highlights of her achievements in Mensa Canada.
Board members submit statements as part of the process for re-election. See Mary Susan’s election statements over the years, as she builds on her successes and works towards her vision.
We know there are more memories than can fit on this page. In the spirit of the Social Media Team, we’ve created a space on Facebook to add your tribute with memories, photos and more. See you there!
